Allegedly, Sarah Palin said this on Facebook:
Palin says in the America she knows, people won't have to "stand in front of Obama's 'death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of healthcare."
She says such a system is "downright evil."
Now, is this hyperbole and over-statement? Can those in Congress now rightly claim that there are no "death panels" in any pending bill? Here is what I think:
Certainly no one is now talking about euthanasia. These are well-intended people who believe they can change our healthcare system to make it more affordable/accessible. They are not intentionally evil. However, rationing, as one can see above, is a feature of EVERY socialized healthcare system extant; and eugenics have held a prominent place on the left since Darwin and Sanger - so it is NOT an exaggeration or hyperbole to ask whether the powers proposed to be granted in this legislation, with its huge government intervention in one-sixth of our economy, with Effectiveness Commissars and already appointed czars who have often spoken publicly about eugenics, could lead, inexorably, in the hands of the next generation of "well-meaning" folks, to adoption of such patently evil measures. Seen this way, perhaps Sarah is not so far off the mark.
